The data comes from the platform's database as of September 9, 2026 and counts published profiles, not individual musicians: a mariachi of eight members is one profile, just like a solo violinist. They are profiles reviewed by the team before being published. What there aren't yet are client reviews, because the platform hasn't yet collected its first booking; the profiles are new and ratings will come with the events.

Why does Mérida concentrate almost half the catalog?

Because that's where serenattia started. The platform is being built by Christian López from Mérida, Yucatán, and the first musicians to join were those from his city: mariachis, trios, DJs, violinists, string quartets, bandas, batucadas and versatile bands that already worked hacienda weddings, serenades and quinceañeras in the area. 33 of 73 profiles are from Mérida, and if you add Valladolid and Progreso, Yucatán accounts for 36. That has a practical consequence for anyone searching today: in Mérida you can compare several options of the same format with the rate in plain sight; in most other cities you'll find one or two, and in many cities across the country, still none.

Which cities joined in the last two weeks?

The catalog doubled in 11 days: from August 29 to September 9, 2026 it went from 37 to 73 profiles and from 6 to 16 cities. Ten of the sixteen markets in the table entered in that period, and from September 1 to 8 alone, 40 new profiles were published. That explains a figure worth keeping in mind when reading the census: 70 of the 73 profiles have been published for less than 30 days. It's a freshly built catalog, not a mature network, and that's why the per-city numbers will change quickly. This page will be updated when they change. A clarification on the count: a market is considered open as soon as it has a published profile with packages and price; musicians in the registration process and those who have already replied on WhatsApp but haven't yet completed their profile are not counted. The booking process on the client side is just as direct: the piece on how to hire a mariachi in five minutes with serenattia explains that flow step by step.

Which formats are in each market?

The 73 profiles cover 28 different genres and add up to 194 active packages with price and duration. Mérida has the most varied offering: mariachi, trio, DJ, violinist, string quartet, saxophonist, banda, batucada, choir, norteño, keyboardist, guitarist and versatile band. In Cancún the profile is that of a wedding destination: mariachi, trio, saxophonist, marimba, jazz, acoustic and norteño-banda. In Mexico City there are trio, duo, guitarist, harpist, string quartet, choir, norteño and singer. Puebla has mariachi, trio, saxophonist and versatile band; Toluca, trios and versatile bands; Monterrey, mariachi and string quartet; Guadalajara, estudiantina, banda and ensemble; Tuxtla Gutiérrez, versatile bands; Valladolid, batucada and DJ. In the cities with a single profile, what there is is what there is: a mariachi in Playa del Carmen, a violinist in Ecatepec, a trio in Tlaxcala, a batucada in Progreso, a group in Chetumal, a jarana orchestra in Hecelchakán and hosting in Campeche.

What does this mean if you're looking for a musician in your city?

If your event is in Mérida, Cancún, Mexico City, Puebla or Toluca, you can already compare options today with the published rate and book with protected payment: you pay the musician's rate plus a 10% service fee (minimum MX$200), the money stays in escrow and is released to the musician the day after the event. If your city appears with one or two profiles, check whether the format matches what you need; and if it doesn't appear, coverage grows week by week, but the catalog isn't padded to look bigger. Always compare the complete package (duration, number of members, what's included) and not just the figure: two mariachis in the same city can cost differently because one offers eight members for an hour and the other six for 45 minutes. To budget in the meantime, the serenattia Index of live music prices in Mexico 2026 gives national and local ranges compiled from prices published in press, directories and vendor websites (not from our own bookings): a mariachi of 6 to 8 musicians, for example, runs MX$2,000 to MX$4,500 per hour on a normal day.

Are you a musician in a city with no coverage?

There's the opportunity. In 16 cities there is at least one profile; in the rest of the country, none. Registration is free, the musician sets their own rate and collects all of it (the fee is paid by the client), there is no exclusivity and a team member reviews each profile before publishing it. The catalog has been built by contacting musicians one by one on WhatsApp: as of September 9, 471 were contacted and 219 replied, 46%, without spending on advertising. If you're from Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Oaxaca, Tijuana, Veracruz or any other city that isn't in the table today, your profile would be the first in your market. Publishing the profile costs nothing and doesn't commit you to anything: you keep working on the side as you do now. While the catalog grows city by city, other musical events in the country, like México Canta 2026, also concentrate attention and demand for live music on their key dates.

If you're a musician, register for free on serenattia and post your rate. If you're organizing an event, search for musicians by city with the price in plain sight.

serenattia is the marketplace of verified live musicians in Mexico: profiles reviewed by the team and escrow-protected payment, so the musician's money is released only when the event takes place. Before paying you see clearly the musician's rate plus a 10% service fee (minimum MX$200), with no hidden charges.
