serenattia is a live musician marketplace for events in Mexico, created in Mérida, Yucatán, by Christian López. People call it "the Rappi of musicians" because it does with the mariachi, the DJ or the trio what Rappi did with food: you see the offer with a price, order from your phone and pay on the platform. As of September 2026 it has 73 published profiles in 16 cities, 194 packages with price and duration, an escrow-protected payment system in operation and still zero bookings collected. This article tells what it is, how it works and where it stands, with no embellishment.
Why "the Rappi of musicians"?
The analogy works to explain the model in one sentence. On Rappi you do not call the restaurant to ask the price; on Airbnb you do not message the host to find out how much the night costs. In live music for events in Mexico, on the other hand, the norm is still to ask for a quote on WhatsApp, wait, negotiate and send a deposit by bank transfer to someone you do not know. serenattia takes the good part of those platforms (visible price, online booking, protected payment) and applies it to musicians: each profile publishes its packages with rate and duration, and the customer books and pays within the platform. The other analogy used in-house, "Airbnb for musicians," points to the same thing. Neither is a claim about size: they are a way to explain how it works. The details are in how serenattia works.
Who is behind it?
serenattia is built by Christian López from Mérida, Yucatán. It is no coincidence that it starts in the southeast: Mérida has a tradition of trova, serenata (serenade) and hacienda weddings that makes live music part of social life, and at the same time the process of hiring it is as opaque as in the rest of the country. The project is built in public: the numbers in this article are those of the catalog itself and are updated as they change, including the ones that do not yet look good. Who is behind it and how to contact the team is on the about us page.
How does it work for the customer?
You go to the search page, choose a city and type of musician, compare packages and book the one that suits you. You pay on the platform the musician's rate plus a 10% service fee, with a minimum of MX$200, itemized before you confirm. That money is held in escrow and released to the musician the day after the event. There are no blind quotes or charges that appear later: the price is never hidden.
How does it work for the musician?
Signing up is free and done online. The musician uploads photos, describes their packages and sets their own rate, which they collect in full: the fee is paid by the customer on top. Before being published, a person on the team reviews each profile. There is no exclusivity (the musician can keep playing outside the platform if they want) and no agencies that resell are accepted: only musicians and groups who are the ones performing at the event.
Where does serenattia stand in September 2026?
These are the numbers as of September 9 and 10, 2026, taken from the platform's database:
| Indicator | Value |
|---|---|
| Published musician profiles | 73 |
| Cities with at least one profile | 16 |
| Active packages with price and duration | 194 |
| Different genres | 28 |
| Profiles with video | 17 |
| Profiles published in the last 30 days | 70 of 73 |
| New sign-ups from September 1 to 8 | 40 |
| Median list price of the packages | MX$4,300 |
| Bookings collected through the platform | 0 |
Two honest readings of that table. The first: the catalog is very new. From August 29 to September 9 it went from 37 to 73 profiles and from 6 to 16 cities; it doubled in 11 days. The second: the platform has not yet collected its first booking. The escrow is built and in operation, but the first payment from a customer to a musician through serenattia has not yet happened. Saying so is more useful than hiding it: whoever books today is among the first, and whoever reads "the Rappi of musicians" should know this is a startup in its first stage, not an established company.
How is the catalog being built?
With no paid advertising. As of September 9, 2026 the team had cold-contacted 471 musicians and groups on WhatsApp, of which 219 responded: a 46% response rate with MX$0 invested in ads. It is an operational anecdote, not a market study, but it says something about the problem serenattia is trying to solve: musicians are interested in having a place where their price is published and their payment is guaranteed. Mérida concentrates most of the profiles because that is where it all began; Mexico City, Cancún, Puebla, Toluca, Guadalajara and Monterrey follow, and 10 of the 16 cities were added between August 29 and September 9. On the other side of the counter, the article on how to hire a mariachi in five minutes with serenattia explains what a customer sees and does when booking.
How much does the live music on offer cost?
To give market context, serenattia publishes the serenattia Index of live music prices in Mexico 2026, which compiles published and verifiable prices from press, directories and providers between 2024 and 2026; they are not its own bookings, because there are none yet. According to its national range, a mariachi of 6 to 8 musicians costs MX$2,000 to MX$4,500 per hour on a normal day, and on September 15 and 16 it rises between 30% and 100%. Within the catalog, the median list price of the 194 packages is MX$4,300 and the average, MX$8,150: there is everything from short serenades to full wedding packages.
What comes next?
What comes next is the obvious: the first booking collected, more cities with real supply and more profiles with video (today 17 of 73). This article will be updated when those numbers change. If you are organizing an event, search for musicians with the rate in plain view and book with protected payment. If you are a musician and want to appear with your price published, sign up for free; a person on the team reviews your profile before publishing it.
serenattia is the marketplace of verified live musicians in Mexico: profiles reviewed by the team and escrow-protected payment, so the musician's money is released only when the event takes place. Before paying you clearly see the musician's rate plus a 10% service fee (minimum MX$200), with no hidden charges.
