In Colombia there is no official rate: each group sets its own price. In Bogotá, two groups that publish their rates in 2026 ask $650,000 COP and $760,000 COP for one hour of mariachi. In Cali and Barranquilla we found no verifiable public prices, so we give no figure there.

How much does an hour of mariachi cost in Bogotá?

Bogotá is the city where we found the most public rates. One group publishes the hour of mariachi with open repertoire, two voices (male and female) and transport within the city at $650,000 COP. Another group, with six musicians, offers an hour with about 18 songs, video and a gift item for $760,000 COP.

Format published in BogotáSongsPrice (COP)
Basic serenade, 5 musicians (group A)7$230,000
Classic serenade (group A)8$280,000
Premium serenade (group A)9$330,000
Luxury serenade (group A)12$450,000
One hour, open repertoire (group A)no limit$650,000
Simple serenade, 6 musicians, about 24 minutes (group B)8$340,000
Special serenade, about 30 minutes (group B)9$380,000
One hour, 6 musicians (group B)about 18$760,000

Prices published by two Bogotá groups on their websites, checked on October 5, 2026. They are reference rates from each group, not an official rate, and may change.

Notice that the full hour costs a little less than double the serenade of 8 or 9 songs. If you're going to ask for more than nine songs anyway, the hour usually works out better than adding up single songs.

A useful warning: the published price almost always assumes a standard time and area. If your party is in a neighboring municipality or in the early morning, the number changes, and that is why it is best to look at the table as a starting point and not as a final quote.

And in Medellín, Cali and Barranquilla?

For Medellín we found ranges per serenade, not per hour: a site that brings together groups speaks of $300,000 to $550,000 COP for a serenade of 7 to 9 songs, and another lists serenades of $350,000 to $1,000,000 COP depending on the number of musicians and songs. These are ranges from group sites, not an official rate.

For Cali and Barranquilla we didn't find published rates we could verify, and that is why we don't give you an invented figure. The honest thing is to ask for two or three local quotes and compare them with the ranges in this guide as a reference, not as a rule.

If public prices from another city appear tomorrow, this guide will be updated. Meanwhile, we would rather show fewer figures but real ones, with their source, than fill the page with numbers with nothing behind them.

What makes an hour cost more or less?

The groups agree on a few factors: how many musicians come, how long the show lasts, what type of event it is and where it is played. A price guide published on March 23, 2026 mentions that areas like Usaquén or Chapinero can have higher prices than other areas of Bogotá.

Schedule and date also weigh in. Several groups warn of surcharges for serenades very late at night or in the early morning, and on peak dates, like Día de la Madre (Mother's Day), the price can go up. Extras (video, champagne, flowers, a gift) are added separately in the higher packages.

Also think about the size of the venue. In a large hall or outdoors, a small group can fall short and you will need sound or more musicians, which raises the rate. In an apartment living room, on the other hand, a group of five already fills the space.

How do you compare quotes without surprises?

Always ask everyone for the same thing so you can compare. Four questions are enough: how many musicians come, how many songs or minutes are included, whether transport and sound are in the price, and whether there is a surcharge for time or area.

Also ask about the form of payment: one Bogotá group warns that paying by card carries an additional 5%. And put the agreement in writing on WhatsApp: date, time, address, songs and total value. That avoids arguments on the day of the event.

Finally, don't compare apples to oranges: an hour from a group of five isn't the same as an hour from a group of ten. Before saying something is expensive or cheap, confirm how many people are going to play and how long the music really sounds.

And Serenattia? Born in Mexico and arriving in Colombia

Serenattia is a marketplace for hiring live musicians that was born in Mexico. Today we don't yet have musicians published in Colombia, and we would rather tell you straight. If you want us to let you know when there are some, leave your details on this page with the notice "Let me know when there are musicians in Colombia."

Are you a musician in Colombia? Publish your profile for free at /registro-musico. In Mexico the musician receives 100% of their rate, the price is visible before booking and there is no exclusivity. This is how it works today in Mexico: /musicos. The prices in Mexican pesos from the Mexico price index do not apply to Colombia.

While you wait, use common sense: ask for comparable quotes, keep the agreement in writing and be wary of anyone who demands full payment in advance with no reference at all. That peace of mind is exactly what we aim to give with the escrow payment that already works in Mexico.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a mariachi charge per hour in Colombia?

There is no official rate. In Bogotá, two groups publish $650,000 COP and $760,000 COP for one hour in 2026. In other cities we found no verifiable public prices, so we give no figure.

Does the hour of mariachi include transport?

For the two Bogotá groups checked, transport within the city is included. Outside Bogotá there is an additional cost depending on distance and tolls, so ask before booking.

Is it better to hire the hour or the serenade?

If you want more than nine songs or to sing with the guests, the hour usually makes sense. For a short surprise of 7 to 9 songs, the serenade is enough and costs less.

How many musicians should a mariachi have?

The groups checked publish formats of 5 and 6 musicians for serenades and hours. Those of 10 to 12 musicians are used at large events and cost considerably more.

Can I hire a mariachi with Serenattia in Colombia?

Not yet: Serenattia was born in Mexico and is arriving in Colombia. Leave your details so we can let you know when there are musicians.
