An affordable serenade (serenata) does exist: the lowest price posted today by musicians on Serenattia is from MX$1,300 in Puebla and from MX$1,500 in CDMX (October 2026, before the service fee). To save, choose a trio or a small group, a few well-chosen songs and a flexible schedule, and compare with visible prices.

Giving live music doesn't have to be a luxury. With a little strategy you can give a serenade that moves people without emptying your wallet. Here we explain how to do it with real data and no tricks.

What is the lowest price for a serenade?

Each musician posts their own rate, so there is no single price. What we can share are the lowest prices posted today on Serenattia by market (October 2026, MXN, before the service fee):

How much does the service fee add?

The client pays a separate 10% service fee, with a minimum of MX$200. The musician receives 100% of their rate. For example, on a MX$1,500 rate the fee is MX$200 (the minimum, because 10% would be MX$150); on a MX$3,000 rate it would be MX$300. Always calculate the total before deciding, and if you need an invoice, the 16% VAT goes on top.

How do you save without losing quality?

  • Choose a small group: a trio, a violin or a saxophone usually post lower rates than a full mariachi.
  • Ask for a few well-chosen songs: three songs with meaning move people more than ten filler ones.
  • Book early: there are more options and less urgency.
  • Be flexible with the schedule: sometimes a different time helps you find availability.
  • Compare: there is no exclusivity, so you can look at several profiles.
  • Join forces: among several relatives or friends, the cost per person drops a lot.

How to calculate the total cost before booking

To avoid surprises, add three items in this order:

  1. The musician's rate, which is the one you see posted on their profile.
  2. Serenattia's service fee: 10% of the rate, with a minimum of MX$200.
  3. The VAT (16%), only if you need an invoice, added on top.

An example with Puebla's lowest posted price, MX$1,300: 10% would be MX$130, but since the fee minimum is MX$200, MX$200 is added and the total before VAT would be MX$1,500. With a higher price, like MX$2,000, 10% is MX$200, so the fee matches the minimum. From there on, the fee grows with the rate.

How to save without it showing

  • Choose a small group. A duo or a trio is usually more affordable than a large group, and it is enjoyed a lot in an intimate space.
  • Ask for few songs, but well chosen. Three that mean something are worth more than ten generic ones.
  • Compare profiles. With visible prices and no exclusivity, you can review several options with no commitment.
  • Book early. You have more options and can decide calmly.

What it's wise not to cut

Even if you're looking to save, there are things you shouldn't sacrifice: the exact address, someone to receive the musician and the team's confirmation of availability. Those three points cost nothing and keep the serenade from getting complicated.

What do we NOT recommend doing to save?

Avoid a group with no clear information, paying outside the platform or accepting a "surprise" price on the day of the event. Cheap gets expensive when the group doesn't show up or changes the conditions. That's why on Serenattia you pay 100% when you book and the money is held in escrow: it's only released when you scan the musician's QR code at the event, before they play. If they don't arrive, the payment isn't released.

Which group is more affordable?

There is no absolute rule, because each musician sets their rate, but in general groups with fewer members tend to be more accessible: a trio, a violin, a saxophone or a soloist with a guitar. A full mariachi or a large banda, because of their number of members, usually post higher rates. The recommendation is to look at the profile and compare what each rate includes (songs, length, schedule).

Affordable serenade ideas that feel special

  1. Trio with three songs: a well-known opening, the person's song and a cheerful close.
  2. Midday serenade: sometimes there is more availability than at night.
  3. Serenade for several people: Dad's birthday and the grandparents' anniversary the same weekend, making the most of the group.
  4. Surprise at the door: no hall and no extra production, just music and emotion.
  5. Combined with a simple touch: a bakery cake or a flower, without overspending.

If you're looking to combine it with sweets, check serenade with cake or with chocolates.
