A serenade (serenata) with balloons combines live music and decoration to create a complete romantic surprise. You take care of the balloons (or order them from a separate vendor), and you book the serenade on Serenattia with the price in plain view and payment held in escrow. The key is to coordinate the time so both arrive together.
How do you combine balloons with a serenade?
Balloons are a visual complement and the serenade is the emotional center. They work well together because the person sees the detail and hears the music at the same moment. There are several ways to combine them:
- Balloons at the door: an arch or a bouquet of balloons at the entrance, ready when the musicians arrive.
- Balloons with a message: with the name, the age, a phrase or a letter, depending on the occasion.
- Balloons in the living room or patio: so the serenade takes place inside a decorated space.
- A balloon with a note: a helium balloon with a letter or a keepsake tied to it.
Ideally the balloons are ready before the musicians arrive, and someone you trust takes care of receiving the vendor. If the person is being surprised, the effect is double: first they see the balloons, and almost right away they hear the first song.
Who provides the balloons and who provides the music?
They are separate services. On Serenattia you book the musicians: you choose the group, the genre and the time. The balloons you can order from a decoration shop, make yourself or ask a relative for help. What matters is coordinating the schedules: ask for the balloons to arrive thirty to sixty minutes before the serenade, so there is time to arrange them and handle surprises.
If you are surprising someone who lives far away, ask a relative or friend to receive both services. Put in writing the time of each one and a contact phone number. That way, even if you are not there, everything happens in the right order.
Care with balloons and music
Helium and latex balloons are fragile. Keep them away from candles or heat sources, and be careful with the wind if the serenade is outdoors. If there are pets or small children, make sure they do not bite the balloons. And remember that the noise of a balloon popping can startle those present; when the music begins, it pays for the balloons to be well secured.
Which genre should you choose for a surprise with balloons?
It depends on the tone of the surprise. For something romantic, a trio with boleros or a saxophone with soft songs. For something festive (a birthday, an anniversary with family), a mariachi with cheerful songs. For a modern, relaxed atmosphere, a violin or a quartet. If the person listens to regional music, a norteño group or a banda will work very well.
| Type of surprise | Suggested format |
|---|---|
| Declaration or proposal | Trio or saxophone, slow songs |
| Birthday with family | Mariachi or banda, sing-along songs |
| Intimate anniversary | Trio or violin |
| Surprise party | Norteño or mariachi |
How much does the serenade cost?
Each musician publishes their rate. As of October 2026, the lowest price published on Serenattia, before the service fee, is: Puebla MX$1,300; Mexico City MX$1,500; Mérida MX$1,700; Cancún MX$1,800; Playa del Carmen MX$2,000; Toluca MX$2,200; Querétaro MX$2,400; Monterrey MX$2,500; Cuernavaca MX$3,600; Guadalajara MX$4,000. Balloons have a separate cost, which depends on the vendor. To compare rates, see the music price index for Mexico.
A service fee of 10% is added to the rate, with a minimum of MX$200. Example: with a rate of MX$2,500, the fee is MX$250 and the total is MX$2,750. The musician receives 100% of their rate. If you need an invoice, the 16% VAT (IVA) goes on top.
You pay 100% when you book and the money is held in escrow. It is released at the event, when you scan the musician's QR code before they play. The Serenattia team confirms the availability of each booking.
How to book and coordinate step by step
- Define the date, time and address of the surprise.
- Choose the group from the list of musicians; there is no exclusivity.
- Book and write the details in the notes: name, occasion and songs.
- Order the balloons separately and coordinate their arrival before the serenade.
- Pay 100% and wait for the confirmation.
- On the day of the event, scan the musician's QR code before they play.
A suggested order for the surprise
First the balloons arrive and get arranged. Then, the person being surprised arrives (or is brought) to the spot. When they are in position, the group comes in with the first song. Halfway through, a letter or keepsake is handed over. At the end, a toast or a hug. With this order, each element has its moment and they do not trip over each other.
What to do if something goes wrong
If the balloons arrive late, the serenade does not have to be canceled; they can come in afterward. If the person arrives earlier than planned, ask the musicians to wait at the entrance or to start without the balloons. If it rains, have an indoor plan. And if there are schedule changes, let the Serenattia team know as soon as possible so the booking can be adjusted with the musician.
