For a serenata (serenade) in the State of Mexico, choose the type of group on Serenattia, submit your booking with the municipality, neighborhood, street and landmarks, and the team confirms availability in your area. As a reference, the lowest published price in Mexico City is from MX$1,500 and in Toluca from MX$2,200 (October 2026).

The State of Mexico is huge: it runs from municipalities adjoining Mexico City, such as Naucalpan, Tlalnepantla, Ecatepec or Nezahualcóyotl, to cities such as Toluca and towns in the Valley. That means there is no single answer to "how much does it cost and who comes?" What there is, is an orderly way to ask for a serenade without wasting time or money.

Can you ask for a serenade in any municipality of the State of Mexico?

It depends on where the musicians are and on the distance. For any other municipality, the Serenattia team confirms the availability of each booking. We do not promise coverage we have not confirmed: send your request with the full address and they will tell you what is possible.

What information should you give so the booking goes well?

  • Municipality, neighborhood or subdivision, street and number.
  • Clear landmarks (shop, park, corner) and whether there is controlled access.
  • Exact date and time of the serenade.
  • Type of occasion and the person's name.
  • Phone number of whoever is coordinating the surprise.

In the State of Mexico, where many streets repeat across neighborhoods, a landmark is worth gold.

How much does a serenade cost in the State of Mexico?

Each musician sets their rate. The floors published today (October 2026, before the service fee) are from MX$1,500 in Mexico City and from MX$2,200 in Toluca. For other municipalities the rate depends on the group, the songs, the time and the distance, and is confirmed to you before paying. The 10% service fee with a minimum of MX$200 is added to the rate; the musician receives 100% of what they publish. Compare ranges in the live music price index for Mexico.

How is it paid and how do I protect myself?

You pay 100% when booking and the money is held in escrow. It is released to the musician at the event, when you scan the musician's QR code before they play. If the group does not arrive, the payment is not released. It can be invoiced; VAT (16%) goes on top. There is no exclusivity: you can compare calmly.

Tips for a serenade without mishaps in the State of Mexico

  1. Book in advance, especially if the municipality is far from the most covered cities.
  2. Consider traffic: highways and access roads can lengthen the trip. Give a time with margin.
  3. Notify neighbors and the administration if it is a housing complex.
  4. Make sure someone receives the group and opens the access.
  5. Have the repertoire decided: opening, central song and closing.

How to describe your location well in a large municipality

The State of Mexico has very extensive municipalities, with neighborhoods, subdivisions and streets that look alike. A clear description avoids confusion:

  • Write the full name of the municipality and of the neighborhood or subdivision, not just the street.
  • Add visible landmarks: a shop, a school, a park or a nearby avenue.
  • Indicate the type of access: house, building, private street or condominium, and who authorizes entry.
  • Share a contact phone number of the person who will receive the musician.

Things worth agreeing on in advance

  • The time, with margin: if there is usual traffic in your area, take it into account when choosing the time.
  • Parking: ask whether there will be room for the musician to arrive and set up.
  • The condominium's permission: in some private communities visitors must be registered in advance.

How to choose among several musicians in the area

With visible prices and no exclusivity, compare profiles calmly. Review photos, videos, repertoire and the coverage area. If you are torn between two options, pick the one that best fits the space and the taste of whoever is receiving. And remember that the Serenattia team confirms the availability of each booking, so use that confirmation to resolve any doubt about your municipality.

Frequent occasions

The usual ones: birthdays (Las Mañanitas), anniversaries, Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, graduations and asking forgiveness. In the State of Mexico, family surprises with a lot of people are also common, where a mariachi or a banda works very well. If the person is older, a rondalla or a trio with traditional boleros is moving.

If your surprise is for someone who lives far away, you can coordinate it from a distance: you book, give the address and a relative receives the group. What matters is that there is a contact on site to give the welcome.

Before booking, one last review

Think of three quick questions. When is it? If it is in less than a week, send the request as soon as possible. Where exactly is it? The more precise the information, the faster it is confirmed. What do you want the person to feel? With that you choose the group and repertoire. With those three answers, your booking is ready in a few minutes and the team can confirm it more quickly.
