A Serenade for My Daughter: A Gift She Won't Forget

For her birthday, her graduation, or just because: a serenade tells your daughter that you see her and love her. Music ideas, preparation, and booking.

A serenade (serenata) for your daughter is a musical surprise you dedicate to her on her birthday, graduation, quinceañera, or any important day, with a mariachi, a trio, or whatever style she prefers. It is booked on Serenattia with a visible price and payment at booking, which is held in escrow until the event.

Why give a serenade to a daughter?

Daughters grow up fast. There are stages when a hug takes effort and the words don't come out. A serenade says what sometimes can't be said: I see you, I'm proud of you, I'm here. It is a gift that doesn't depend on fashion or the size of the package, and that is why it stays with her.

It is also a gift that gets shared. The whole family can take part, her friends peek out, and the daughter becomes, for a few minutes, the absolute star. For many, that is worth more than any object. If she is also going through a special moment (first job, moving, graduation), the music gives it closure and celebration.

On which occasions does it work best?

  • Birthdays: especially milestone ones, like 15, 18, 20, or 30.
  • Quinceañera: a serenade at dawn or on the eve is a much-loved tradition.
  • Graduation: to close a chapter with pride.
  • Mother's Day, if she is already a mom: an unexpected tribute from her own family.
  • A hard day: when she needs to know she isn't alone.
  • For no reason: sometimes the best day is any day at all.

Which music should you choose?

Think of her and not of what looks biggest. Here are the options:

  • Mariachi: classic, emotional, and festive. Very good for quinceañeras and birthdays with family.
  • Romantic trio: for a daughter who enjoys the soft and the nostalgic.
  • Violin or saxophone: an elegant option for a young woman who listens to instrumental music.
  • Norteño or banda: if her circle likes a party.
  • Marimba: with warmth and roots, ideal for certain regions of the country.

An idea that works: a song from when she was a little girl, one that represents her today, and one that speaks of what you wish for her. Ask her friends or her siblings which song makes her smile.

How do you book it?

Ordering a serenade should be as easy as sending flowers or a cake:

  1. Go to the musicians and filter by your city.
  2. Compare profiles and prices. The price is visible.
  3. Choose the date, time, and address.
  4. Pay 100% when booking. The money is held in escrow.
  5. The Serenattia team confirms availability.
  6. On the day of the event, before the musician plays, you scan their QR code. That is when the payment is released.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the city, the type of group, and the duration. The lowest price published by musicians on Serenattia (October 2026), before the service fee, is:

CityFrom (MXN)
PueblaMX$1,300
CDMXMX$1,500
MéridaMX$1,700
CancúnMX$1,800
Playa del CarmenMX$2,000
TolucaMX$2,200
QuerétaroMX$2,400
MonterreyMX$2,500
CuernavacaMX$3,600
GuadalajaraMX$4,000

Each musician sets their rate and shows it on their profile. Also check the music price index for Mexico. A 10% service fee, with a minimum of MX$200, is added to the rate, and the musician receives 100% of their rate. With an invoice, the 16% VAT goes on top.

How do you make the surprise go well?

  • Protect her privacy: if she is a reserved young woman, a small group in an intimate space works better than a scene in the middle of the street.
  • An accomplice: her mom, a friend, or a sibling who has her ready and in the right spot.
  • Invite whoever she wants: her closest friends, her cousins, her grandparents.
  • A song with a letter: read a few words before or after the last song.
  • Record it: ask someone to record from the moment the musicians arrive.
  • QR on time: scan it before they start playing.

What if my daughter is shy or lives far away?

If your daughter is reserved, you don't need a big scene. A trio or a duo in the living room of the house, with the family nearby, can be more moving than a mariachi in the middle of the street. What matters is that she feels comfortable and celebrated, not exposed. Ask yourself how she would react to applause from the neighbors and decide based on that.

If you won't be present, coordinate it with the Serenattia team when booking. Afterward you can call her so she tells you about it, or watch the video together. Although distance isn't shortened, music does make you feel close.

Finally, think about accompanying the serenade with something small: a handwritten letter, some flowers, or her favorite dessert. The serenade is the main gift and the rest goes along with it. What she will remember most won't be the size of the group but that you thought of her, chose songs with a story, and organized everything so it would be a moment of her own.
