To hire a serenata (serenade) in another city in Mexico, choose the city where the person lives, compare musicians with a published price, book online and leave the exact address. Today Serenattia publishes musicians in Mexico City, Puebla, Guadalajara, Querétaro, Monterrey, Toluca, Cuernavaca, Mérida, Cancún and Playa del Carmen.

Sending flowers to another city is something almost all of us have done: you order from your phone and they arrive at the door. A serenade can be thought of the same way. You live in one city, your mom or your partner in another, and you want the music to arrive for you. In this guide we explain how to do it from a distance, what to consider and how much it costs in each city.

In which cities can I hire a serenade?

These are the cities where there are musicians published on Serenattia today (October 2026), with their lowest published price, before the service fee:

CityFrom (MXN)
PueblaMX$1,300
Mexico CityMX$1,500
MéridaMX$1,700
CancúnMX$1,800
Playa del CarmenMX$2,000
TolucaMX$2,200
QuerétaroMX$2,400
MonterreyMX$2,500
CuernavacaMX$3,600
GuadalajaraMX$4,000

These are published minimum rates, and they can go up depending on the group, the time and the date. If your city does not appear, it does not mean you cannot organize something: check the musician directory, because the catalog changes over time. For price context, see the price index for music in Mexico.

How do you send a serenade from a distance step by step?

  1. Choose the event's city: the city where the person will be, not where you live.
  2. Compare musicians: review genre, group size and published price. There is no exclusivity.
  3. Define date and time: think of a moment when the person is at home.
  4. Write the complete address: street, number, neighborhood, landmarks and a phone number for whoever receives it.
  5. Pay 100% when booking: the money is held in escrow and the team confirms availability.
  6. Ask someone you trust to scan the QR: that step releases the payment at the event.

Who scans the QR code if I am not there?

This is the most important point of long-distance serenades. The payment is released to the musician at the event, when the client scans the musician's QR code before they play. If you will not be physically there, you need someone you trust on site: a relative, a friend or whoever will receive the surprise.

Before the date, explain to that person how it works. It is simple: when the group arrives, they open the link or the screen you share with them, scan the musician's code and that is it. That way your payment stays protected and the musician receives their full rate.

What details should you take care of when the serenade is in another city?

The logistics of the place

If the person lives in a building, a gated community or a restricted-access area, let the management know. If it is a house, confirm there is space for the group. In cities with heavy traffic, like Mexico City or Monterrey, avoid very tight schedules.

The genre according to the region

Each city has its tastes. A mariachi works practically across the whole country, but in the north norteño and banda have a big presence, and in the southeast marimba and trios have a special flavor. Check what is offered in the directory and ask the family what they would like.

The message that goes with it

Since you will not be there, it helps a lot to prepare a phrase or a short audio that someone can play at the end. You can also ask for a video call so you are present while the serenade plays.

How much does it cost in total?

Add up three items: the musician's rate, the 10% service fee (minimum MX$200) and VAT if you need an invoice (16%, goes on top). An example with round numbers, just as a calculation reference: if a group has a rate of MX$2,500, the service fee would be MX$250, for a total of MX$2,750 before VAT. The musician receives 100% of their MX$2,500.

Remember that the figure depends on the musician you choose; this example only illustrates how it is calculated. Before paying, you will always see the published price.

Ideas for surprising someone in another city

  • Combine the serenade with a message that arrives in the morning, and leave the music for the afternoon.
  • Choose a song about distance or reunion.
  • Coordinate with relatives so everyone is present and records the moment.
  • If the person is far from their hometown, ask for a song from their homeland.
  • Book ahead: the team confirms availability and special dates fill up.

Checklist before booking from a distance

Verify that the address is correct and complete, that someone will be present to receive the group, that the person has no other commitment at that time and that the place allows live music. Confirm the genre they like most and ask, discreetly, whether there are songs that bring back special memories. Also note a local contact phone, because on the day of the event any last-minute change is solved faster with someone who is there. With that settled, distance stops being a problem and the serenade becomes a gift that is easy to send.
