Yes, you can send a serenata (serenade) to another city: you choose the musician in the city where your special person lives, you pay from your phone and the musician plays at their door. Today there are published prices in 10 cities in Mexico; for other cities, check availability with the team before taking the service for granted.
Sending flowers from afar is already normal: you choose, you pay and it arrives. With a serenade the idea is the same, only what arrives is live music. Here we explain how it works, what information you need and what is worth watching when you are not at the location.
In which cities can I send a serenade?
Serenattia is a marketplace of musicians and the supply depends on each city. These are the cities where there are currently musicians with a published price (October 2026), with the lowest rate before the service fee:
| City | Lowest published price (MXN) |
|---|---|
| Puebla | from MX$1,300 |
| Mexico City | from MX$1,500 |
| Mérida | from MX$1,700 |
| Cancún | from MX$1,800 |
| Playa del Carmen | from MX$2,000 |
| Toluca | from MX$2,200 |
| Querétaro | from MX$2,400 |
| Monterrey | from MX$2,500 |
| Cuernavaca | from MX$3,600 |
| Guadalajara | from MX$4,000 |
If your person lives in another city that does not appear here, we do not promise coverage: write to us or check the musician directory to see whether someone is available. Honesty here saves you a bad surprise.
How do you send a serenade, step by step?
- 1. Choose the city and the group.
- 2. Compare visible prices. Each profile shows its rate. There is no exclusivity: you can compare freely.
- 3. Book and pay 100%. The money is held in escrow, it does not go straight to the musician.
- 4. Share the surprise details. Exact address, the person's name, time and favorite songs.
- 5. Coordinate the QR scan with the team. It is the key detail of long-distance serenades, which we explain below.
Who scans the QR code if I am not there?
On Serenattia the payment is released to the musician at the event, when the client scans the musician's QR code before they play. If you are far away, coordinate with the Serenattia team, when booking, how that step will be done.
This step is what protects your money: if the musician does not show up, the payment is not released. That is why it is wise to settle at booking how the scan will be done.
What information does the musician need for everything to go well?
- Full address, landmarks and whether it is a house, an apartment or a hall.
- The person's name and what they are lovingly called.
- Agreed date and time, considering that the person will be at home.
- Songs you want, or ideas from their favorite genre (see our romantic song ideas).
- If there are neighbors, a doorman or noise rules, to give notice in time.
The clearer the information, the better the surprise. A long-distance serenade does not have to feel impersonal: you can ask the musician to dedicate the song in your name with a short phrase.
How much does it cost and how is the total made up?
The price you see on the profile is the musician's rate and they receive 100% of it. You pay a separate service fee of 10%, with a minimum of MX$200. An invoice can be issued and VAT (16%) goes on top. For example, in a city with a rate from MX$1,500 the fee would be MX$200 (because of the minimum), and with a higher rate the 10% is calculated. To see ranges by city, see the live music price index for Mexico.
The Serenattia team confirms the availability of each booking, so you do not depend on guessing whether the musician can do that day.
What is worth deciding before booking from afar?
When you are not at the location, the details you would normally settle with a glance have to be put in writing. These are the decisions that help most:
- What the best time is. Think about when the person is usually at home: after work, a Saturday afternoon, at the end of a meal. A serenade at the wrong time can arrive at a closed door.
- Which genre she or he would feel is their own. If the person is from the north, a norteño sounds natural; if from a traditional family, a mariachi; if they have romantic tastes, a trio.
- What message you want said. From afar, the dedication acts as a bridge: a short phrase with your name and the reason is worth more than ten songs with no context.
- How you will see the moment. If you want a video, ask someone who will be present well in advance and check with the musician that there is no problem with recording.
If any of these decisions is not clear to you, write to the Serenattia team before paying. It is easier to resolve doubts before booking than on the day of the surprise.
Occasion ideas for sending a serenade to another city
- The birthday of someone you cannot hug that day: the music arrives at their door even if you are not there.
- An anniversary with a long-distance partner: a way of saying "I am with you" without taking a flight.
- Mother's Day or Father's Day when you live in a different city from your family.
- An achievement: a graduation, a promotion or good news you want to celebrate with them.
- An apology or a reunion: as long as the other person is willing to receive it.
In every case, remember that the serenade accompanies what you want to say; it does not replace a call or a sincere conversation.
