A serenade in Chile has no single rate. As a reference, according to a public guide to service prices in Chile, updated September 14, 2026, a mariachi group charges per hour between CLP 40,000 and CLP 450,000, depending on how many musicians there are, and in Santiago the range rises to CLP 240,000 to CLP 540,000. A short serenade can cost less than the full hour if the group quotes it that way.

What Does the Price of a Serenade Depend On?

A serenade is not a four-hour event: it is usually a brief moment, a few songs, at the door or the window of the person being honored. Even so the price is built from the same pieces as any live music booking:

  • How many musicians come (voice, guitar, trumpet, violin, guitarrón).
  • How many songs or how much time.
  • The comuna (district) and the distance the group must travel.
  • The schedule: a midnight serenade is not quoted like one at six in the afternoon.
  • Whether it is a surprise that requires coordinating with a third party.

That is why asking for "the price of a serenade" without giving these details almost always ends in an "it depends."

Public Ranges in Chilean Pesos

The public references we found are per hour of mariachi, not per serenade. They serve as a ceiling for calculating:

ReferenceRange per hour (CLP)
One musicianCLP 40,000 to CLP 90,000
Three musiciansCLP 120,000 to CLP 270,000
Five musiciansCLP 200,000 to CLP 450,000
SantiagoCLP 240,000 to CLP 540,000
ConcepciónCLP 160,000 to CLP 360,000

We did not find a public source that publishes the price of a serenade of a few songs in Chile, so we do not invent a figure. Ask the group for it and compare it against these ceilings.

One last piece of advice: if the group gives you a very low price compared with the ceilings above, ask why. Sometimes it is because fewer musicians are coming or because the performance is shorter, and that is fine if you know it beforehand.

How Do You Do a Serenade on a Tight Budget?

There are three levers that do not take emotion away from the moment. The first is the format: a duo or a trio can sound very romantic and costs less than a large group. The second is time: three or four well-chosen songs are enough to move anyone. The third is the day: if the date is flexible, a weekday is usually more negotiable than a Saturday.

What you should not cut is the confirmation in writing. Note who is coming, at what time, how many songs and how much it costs in total, so that on the day of the serenade nobody argues.

Which Songs Should You Choose So Every Peso Counts?

If time is short, every song has to deliver. Choose one the person recognizes from the first note, a truly romantic one and a cheerful closer. See our list in songs for a serenade in Chile and set the order with the group.

Also tell the group the person's name and a detail only you two know. A personal sentence before the first song is worth more than ten extra minutes of music.

What Does the Quoted Price Normally Include?

Before comparing numbers, compare contents. Two quotes that are equal in pesos may not be equal in service. Ask whether the price includes travel to your comuna, setup time, tuning, attire and the songs requested. Also ask whether the total changes if the serenade runs a few minutes longer or if you need two performance spots.

Another practical detail is the policy on changes. If the person is not home or it rains, is it rescheduled? At what cost? Better to know from the start. And if the group asks for a deposit, note how much, who it is paid to and what receipt they provide. A serenade is an emotional moment, but the hiring is a deal like any other, and it is best to make it clear.

And Serenattia in Chile?

Full transparency: Serenattia was born in Mexico (price in plain sight, no exclusivity) and is just now arriving in Chile. We do not yet have musicians published in Chile, and we prefer to tell you before you lose time searching.

While we arrive, it helps to start preparing everything: write down the date, the place, how much you want to spend and what kind of music you are looking for. With that information every quote you ask for will be more precise, and you will be able to compare like for like.

  • Let me know when there are musicians in your city: leave your details in the musicians section and we will write to you when they arrive.
  • Are you a musician in your city? Publish your profile for free at /registro-musico. You set your rate and receive 100% of it.

That is how it works in Mexico: the price is visible, the client pays a service fee separately and the money is held in escrow until the event. You can see how rates are published there in the music price index for Mexico. Those values are from Mexico and do not apply in Chile. When we arrive, the idea is the same: that you see the price before booking and that no musician is tied to exclusivity.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a short serenade cost in Chile?

We did not find a public source with that price, so we do not give a figure. As a reference ceiling, a mariachi charges between CLP 40,000 and CLP 450,000 per hour depending on the number of musicians.

Is it better to ask for the serenade by the hour or by songs?

For a brief surprise, by songs is usually clearer. For a party, by the hour. What matters is that the group confirms it in writing.

Can you do a serenade with a trio instead of a mariachi?

Yes. A trio with guitars sounds very romantic and usually fits a short budget better. Further down in the blog we compare it with the mariachi.

Is there a surcharge by comuna?

Some groups charge it, according to the public price reference. Ask before closing.

Where can I book a serenade with Serenattia in Chile today?

There are not yet Serenattia musicians in Chile: we were born in Mexico and we are arriving. Leave your details and we will let you know.
