For the first year with your boyfriend, the best gift is the one that tells your story: a letter with memories, a box with objects from the year, a getaway or a serenade (serenata) with the song that identifies you both. It is not about spending a lot, but about showing that you kept every moment.

What to give at one year of relationship?

The first anniversary has something special: there is already history, but there is still novelty. These ideas take advantage of that mix:

  • A timeline: the twelve months in photos, with a phrase for each important moment.
  • A box of keepsakes: tickets, receipts, notes and small objects you saved during the year.
  • A one-year letter: what you have learned, what made you fall in love and what you want for the second.
  • Repeat the first date: same place, same food, with new touches.
  • A short getaway: a weekend somewhere neither of you knows.
  • A serenade: live music that marks the date.

A good trick is for the gift to connect with a moment of the year: an inside joke, a song you listened to together, a place where you laughed a lot.

Why does a serenade work for a first anniversary?

Because it celebrates the bond, not just the date. An object marks the anniversary; a serenade makes it alive. It is also a gesture few young couples dare to make, and that is why it is remembered. A first year is the perfect time to start a tradition: every anniversary, a different song or gesture.

Which genre to choose

For a boyfriend who enjoys the intimate, a romantic trio is ideal. If he likes a party, a mariachi or a norteño group brings more joy. A violin or saxophone is perfect if you prefer something understated. Think about the song you have listened to most together and how it sounds in each style.

How do you organize the anniversary serenade?

  1. Choose the exact anniversary date, or the nearest weekend.
  2. Book the group from the musicians list.
  3. Define time and place: at home, on a terrace or at a place with meaning.
  4. Pay 100% when booking; the money is held in escrow.
  5. Wait for confirmation from the Serenattia team.
  6. On the day of the event, scan the musician's QR before they play.

How much does it cost?

These are the lowest prices published today by musicians on Serenattia (October 2026), in pesos and before the service fee:

CityFrom (MXN)
Puebla
CDMX
Mérida
Cancún
Playa del Carmen
Toluca
Querétaro
Monterrey
Cuernavaca
Guadalajara

These are entry-level rates; a large group or a special time slot may cost more. The musician receives 100% of their rate and the client pays a 10% service fee, with a minimum of MX$200. If you ask for an invoice, VAT (16%) goes on top. Compare more in the price index for music in Mexico.

How to make the whole celebration special

  • Before: a simple dinner or a walk, without revealing the surprise.
  • During: a dedicated song and another that you both sing.
  • After: the letter or the box of keepsakes, to close calmly.
  • For the future: propose a tradition, such as repeating a song every year.

Watch out for expectations

One year is a short time for huge commitments. Do not turn the surprise into pressure to say something you are not ready to say. Celebrate what is already there: the affection, the complicity and the desire to keep going together.

Quick checklist before booking

  • Full address with street, number, neighborhood and an easy-to-find landmark.
  • A contact person on site, with a phone, to receive the musicians.
  • Access and permits: if there is a gatehouse, administration or noise rules, tell them ahead of time.
  • Two or three songs that mean something, and one to close.
  • Who scans the musician's QR before they start to play.
  • Who records the moment, preferably from a discreet spot.

What does your booking include and how is your payment protected?

When booking you pay 100% upfront, but that money does not go to the musician right away: it is held in escrow. At the event, before the group starts to play, you scan the musician's QR code and at that moment the payment is released. If the group does not show up, there is no QR to scan and the money is not released. In addition, the Serenattia team confirms the availability of each booking, each group's price is published and there is no exclusivity: you can compare and choose freely. If you need an invoice, it can be issued, and VAT (16%) is added to the total.
