For Mom at Christmas, the best gift makes her feel cared for at a time of year when she usually cares for everyone: time, a personal keepsake or a Christmas serenata (serenade) with the whole family. More than an object, she values feeling seen and accompanied.

What should you give Mom for Christmas?

In December, many moms take charge of the dinner, the decorations and the gatherings. The gifts that work best recognize that effort:

  • A day of rest: the children take care of the dinner or the shopping so she does not have to do anything.
  • A personal keepsake: a comfortable garment, a blanket or an accessory she would not buy herself.
  • A family album: with the year's photos and notes from each child.
  • A family experience: a walk through the city lights or a special meal.
  • A letter of thanks: for everything during the year, handwritten.
  • A Christmas serenade: music with villancicos (carols) and songs she loves.

If there are several siblings, a joint gift is usually better than several small ones, and it lets you add something more meaningful.

Why a Christmas serenade for Mom?

Because Christmas and music go hand in hand, and Mom is almost always the one who enjoys singing with the family the most. A serenade adds to the holiday atmosphere, is a tribute and becomes part of family tradition. With one condition: that she does not have to organize anything. The idea is that, for once, she only receives.

How do you organize it?

  1. Book well in advance.
  2. Choose the city and group in the list of musicians.
  3. Define the date, time and place: a posada, an earlier visit or the dinner (avoid the 24th and 25th if you can).
  4. Pay 100% when you book; the money is held in escrow.
  5. Wait for the Serenattia team's confirmation.
  6. On the day of the event, scan the musician's QR before they play.

How much does it cost?

These are the lowest prices published today by musicians on Serenattia (October 2026), in pesos and before the service fee. In December, prices and availability may vary depending on the group:

Puebla
Mexico City
Mérida
Cancún
Playa del Carmen
Toluca
Querétaro
Monterrey
Cuernavaca
Guadalajara

The musician receives 100% of their rate and the customer pays a service fee of 10%, with a minimum of MX$200. If you ask for an invoice, the VAT (16%) goes on top. More data in the index of music prices in Mexico. Among siblings, the cost is easily split.

Ideas for a special Christmas

  • A dedicated villancico: the one she used to sing when you were children.
  • A family chorus: everyone sings a final song with the musicians.
  • The grandchildren up front: let them hand over a keepsake or a card.
  • A toast with her favorite drink, without her having to serve anything.
  • A video with messages from relatives who cannot be there.

An example plan for Christmas week

Choose a day before Nochebuena (Christmas Eve), when Mom is not yet in full preparation. The children arrive with a ready meal, the grandchildren with drawings and, in the mid-afternoon, a mariachi or a trio appears to play three villancicos and a song she loves. Afterward, a toast and photos. That way the serenade becomes a gift in itself and does not compete with the dinner on the 24th.

If Mom lives far away

If you will not be present, coordinate it with the Serenattia team when booking. You can join by video call and sing with her from wherever you are.

Quick checklist before booking

  • Full address with street, number, neighborhood and an easy-to-find landmark.
  • A contact person on site, with a phone number, to receive the musicians.
  • Access and permits: if there is a gatehouse, administration or noise rules, let them know ahead of time.
  • Two or three songs that mean something, and one to close.
  • Who scans the QR of the musician before they start playing.
  • Who records the moment, preferably from a discreet spot.

What does your booking include and how is your payment protected?

When you book you pay 100% up front, but that money does not go to the musician right away: it is held in escrow. At the event, before the group starts to play, you scan the musician's QR code and at that moment the payment is released. If the group does not show up, there is no QR to scan and the money is not released. In addition, the Serenattia team confirms the availability of each booking, each group's price is published and there is no exclusivity: you can compare and choose freely. If you need an invoice, it can be issued, and the VAT (16%) is added to the total.
